With these words, Daniele Zanotti, CEO, mapped out a bold 2008 to over 120 corporate and community leaders at United Way of York Region’s 32nd Annual General Meeting, held at the historic Heintzman House.

A Most Remarkable Little Girl: February, 2008

“Remarkable”. We use the word a lot at United Way of York Region because it so aptly captures the nuances of York Region neighbourhoods; remarkable strengths – remarkable challenges. The Executive Director of York Region Abuse Program, Alison Peck shared a heart-wrenching story of one very remarkable little girl at the agency’s Children’s Champion Gala.
When we think of children we think of laughter, joy, and innocence. Tragically, that is not the experience of hundreds of children in York Region each year who are sexually abused. York Region Abuse Program, an agency you support through your donation to United Way of York Region, is dedicated to child abuse prevention and treatment.

Roar for the Sorrow: June, 2007

Those words brought audience members to their feet, at United Way of York Region’s 31st Annual General Meeting and Leadership Breakfast. In an impassioned speech, UWYR CEO Daniele Zanotti spoke of his organization’s committment to giving voice to the people we serve and the underlying root causes of social service needs in York Region.
